we are a low barrier organization - the women just need to be 18 to 25 years old and want and need to change in their life to be served by HER.
HER Resiliency Center (HER) provides support, resources and guidance to young women, ages 18-25, overcoming various forms of hardship in their lives. HER uses a peer and mentor based approach in its structure. HER also uses trauma informed practices to help peers heal in a traditional and non-traditional way including TREM, yoga, mindfulness and somatic experiencing. HER supports young women during this critical time by providing one-on-one assistance navigating life’s challenges; skill-building workshops in the community; and matching to mentors with lived experience overcoming adversity. HER is unique because HER is one of the only low barrier organization, specific to 18 to 25 year old women in Washington, DC. Although all of the young women who engage with HER have significant as well as complex trauma, The young women that seek support from HER are not required to have a mental health diagnoses, have an addiction, be homeless, engaged in commercial sex work or have been trafficked. HER is here to provide preventive support, in addition to helping the young women elevate themselves out of hard situations. We only ask that the young women both want and need to change their lives.
